Company History

Finlay Communications is the leading company in Northern Ireland for the installation and servicing of domestic and commercial satellite systems.

Formed in 1983 as a family owned telecommunications support service provider, the then directors, husband and wife team, Paul and Bernie Finlay, transformed the business from a small local enterprise based in Bangor, Co. Down into a substantial cross border business employing more than 200 employees.

Our Northern Ireland base operates from a 2 acre site in Balloo Industrial Estate in Bangor but our field workforce is located right across the country ensuring adequate coverage for all our customers.

In Sept 2000, in partnership with Sky, the step was taken to expand the business into the Republic of Ireland to meet the escalating demand for Sky’s products and services there. Further expansion of the business here necessitated bigger premises so in 2007, we acquired new custom built premises in Mullingar, Co Westmeath, which is strategically located to allow easy access to all major road networks radiating out from the Midlands.

In April 2008, the business was acquired by Nationwide Communications Ltd. resulting in the formation of a new management team which includes Dale Finlay, son of the original owners, allowing the business to benefit from continuity of relationships with both employees and key clients. Dale has been joined by Michael Burke, Bill McCandless and Martin Reilly who have worked together for a number of years allowing them to bring a wealth of personal experience and skills to the company gained within a similar service sector environment. In addition, a new Managing Director, Mark Hunter has been appointed to oversee our business activities in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
